Business and Politics
Project

The interaction between firms and political actors has a major impact on the way modern societies develop. Political actors make laws and regulation which shape the environment in which firms operate. Hence, firms have a legitimate interest in interacting with political actors and political actors need inputs from the business community to make the best possible decisions.

The CEBR research program Business and Politics focuses on the use of non-market corporate strategies. These efforts include internal organizational design as well as external strategies, such as lobbying, which many of the CEBR activities in this research project have focused on, and other means of influencing policy makers at all levels of government and international institutions. A second area of interest involves efforts by policy makers to influence firm behaviour through regulatory, legal, financial, and other government instruments.
